Director of Safety

Job Description:      The Director of Safety provides strategic leadership/direction in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Stallion Safety Plan including strategies, policies, best practices, and initiatives applicable throughout operations.  

This role requires experience in corporate DOT and safety regulated programs/training.  Our ideal candidate will be flexible to change and idea oriented with ability to proactively analyze current processes/procedures and challenge them as needed to build continued improvement and reliable safety practices.


• Plans, directs, and leads the implementation of the Corporation's Safety Plan, vehicle accident and safety awareness and compliance programs

• Executes and manages the assessment, development, and implementation of comprehensive safety policies, programs, tools, and systems to enhance consistent application/compliance with directions for safe driving practices and to reduce accidents/injuries

• Effectively manages our drivers and safety/recruiting team by communicating performance expectations, determining training needs, providing coaching, approving leaves, and dealing with disciplinary issues

• Ensures awareness of the Safety goals, resolves safety performance issues, and encourages input into the development of innovative programs that ensure that each driver is the best trained and qualified for the job

• Establishes and maintains effective business relationships with a broad range of internal and external personnel


• Significant executive level experience in a Corporate Transportation Safety environment

• Proven managerial and leadership experience to provide direction, guidance, and coaching Safety Staff and drivers

• Broad understanding of Safety policies and practices

• Proven strategic planning and leadership expertise to manage the development of organization-wide straties that reduce/eliminate vehicle accidents and worker injuries and ensure our drivers are the best trained and qualified for the job

• Strong knowledge of regulations and legislation governing employment regulations and standards to ensure requirements are incorporated into strategies, programs, and performance

• Knowledge and expertise in developing communication plans and stategies to facilitate the rollout of corporate goals for safety training and development

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.) and transportation related software

• Excellent interpersonal skills and well developed written and verbal communication skills
